Qual breeding
This subject is presented quite difficult when the current situation in the dog breed wants to be really fair.

The difficulty begins with the choice of words. Qual breeding is a very unfortunate and certainly in need of correction term, because it suggests that the pain is to some extent the breeding goal. But it is not so. Meant something quite different, namely, the breeding of animals that have genetic defects that lead to pain in their offspring, or at least are capable of leading.

Another difficulty is, inter alia, that there is no sharp line between the agony and the non-torture. Of course, there are clear cases of torture breeding that must be stopped quickly without question.
There are also a wide gray area in which it is difficult to give evidence, whether a feature already met the notion of torture or if this is not the case.

Before quite specifically addressed the issue of "torture breeding," the text of the law should be cited, which refers to animal-protection-related discipline.
It is § 11 b of the Animal Welfare Act:

"It is forbidden to breed vertebrates, if the breeder has to expect that in the offspring due to inherited characteristics of body parts or organs for the use of this characteristic is missing or defective or altered and are degrading the pain, suffering or injury."

Based on the dog breed, is meant by this paragraph, in good faith with such dogs to breed out their offspring with predictable likelihood of a normal, this characteristic dogs life.

This claim is completely legitimate and not excessive. But what is a normal dog's life? It should be a life that requires anatomical and physiological functioning animals that also may also have behavior patterns that are neither the animal itself, nor its people an unbearable burden I want to be an example to demonstrate some ways that may be in the dog breed for torture:

1. It can occur in a breed genetic defects that lead the race with all representatives in pain or suffering, because they are part of the standard.
Example:
Baldness, as occurs in hairless dogs. Homozygous hairless dogs die embryonically, live nude dogs are heterozygous. Naturally, the animals have big problems with heat regulation, because in the summer, they suffer from sunburn and in winter they have no protection from the cold. But not the baldness makes only the problems, because in addition Cresteds tend to tooth poverty that goes to the toothless. In addition, they often connect to immune deficiencies, which in turn leads to a particularly high susceptibility to infection.

2. In a race, mutations occur that result in pain or suffering, which are not enshrined in the standard, but nevertheless, if unspoken, have become excruciating racial characteristics, for almost every race representative is plagued with these characteristics.

Example: Excessive wrinkling, as it has the Shar Pei at the entire body.Other breeds of dogs they have partial, especially in the head area.
What is the pain here? Skinfold posed by high humidity and heat
always the best breeding grounds for bacteria dar. These dogs tend to result eczema that are caused by strong itching with all the resulting consequences for torture.

3. There are many breeds that are based on genetic defects that certainly should not lead to suffering and that so long as these features are kept to a reasonable level, which lead in to pain or suffering when it comes to over-interpretation of the standard .

Examples:
Giants and dwarfs, and brachycephalic breeds chondrodystrophic
In these groups are certainly most of our breeds.
Your breeding goal is not objectionable from the beginning, but it leads only to pain, if interpretations are the rule.

In other words: Dog Breeding and anguish must have no points of contact. You will only be an inseparable pair when the irrationality of man to gain the upper hand over its responsibility for the animal.

It is easy to forget that the concept of torment breed not only to physical conditions applies, but that "torture" 'can be extended to the behavioral area. Dogs, each with balance and security have lost their behavior is driven by aggression and neurosis, also comply with the offense of torture breeding.

Aggression and neurosis but do not hurt the dog itself, but they have consequences that no longer permit a reasonable dog's life and an animal-friendly dog.

Incidentally, one should not assume that the breeding with genetic defects is a typical train of our time. This was human error is likely so long as there are people created by domestic dogs.

The show bones from prehistoric times. And yet there are very substantial differences between the agony breeding at that time and present time.

One of these has e.g. the fact that man 2000 years ago or even 200 years ago lived in a society that was characterized by other modes of thought and a different knowledge level than is the case today.

The then one could assess his breeding misconduct hardly correct, for he had no knowledge of genetics, nor was he aware that an animal is capable of suffering, that it feels pain and that it knows fear and discomfort.

With this ignorance, we can not make excuses anymore.
And yet it is a terribly tough process, has taken up the willingness to rethink in dog breeding base. Whether breeding for the "agony breeding" is, is only a matter of discipline and decorum of the breeders.

Modern dog breeding has to focus not on the design, but primarily on the well-being of the animals
